Masseter (jaw muscle). Masseter, clenching and grinding.

Many people come to me because they grind their teeth at night, clench during the day, or their face looks wide at the lower jaw. With botulinum toxin I relax the masseter, the strong chewing muscle at the side of the lower jaw. The aim is a more relaxed jaw muscle and a softer contour along the jaw.

Why does the jaw muscle become so strong?

If you clench your teeth under stress or grind them at night, you train the masseter every day. It often becomes stronger, and you can see and feel it at the side of your jaw.

What happens at the appointment?

First I ask you to bite down firmly, and I feel both jaw muscles. We talk about what you would like, and I explain everything to you in person. If everything is right for you, I treat you straight away in the same appointment, with a fine needle on both sides. It only takes a few minutes.

When does it take effect, and how long does it last?

After a few days you notice that the muscle relaxes. The first changes in contour can usually be seen after two to six weeks. The effect generally lasts four to six months, and often longer after repeated treatments.

Common questions.

How much does masseter treatment cost?

Masseter treatment costs 280 €*. All prices

Can I go straight back to work?

Yes, you can go straight back to work afterwards. The tiny needle marks are usually barely visible after just a few minutes. That is why an appointment before work or during your lunch break works well too.

What should I keep in mind after the treatment?

In the first 4 hours after treatment, please do not lie down. On the day of treatment, no make-up and no alcohol, and do not touch, rub or massage the injection sites. No exercise for the first 24 hours. No sauna and no tanning beds for the first 5 to 7 days. What to bear in mind after your wrinkle treatment › · When does the wrinkle treatment take effect? ›
