When does the wrinkle treatment take effect?
By Dr. med. Sebastian Vogel, physician
In short: First changes can show from day 2. The full effect usually develops within 14 days.
How the effect develops
- On the day of treatmentTreatment.
- From day 2First effect possible.
- Days 2 to 7Movement usually clearly reduced.
- Days 7 to 14Effect continues to develop.
- From day 14Full effect usually reached.
| When | Visible and noticeable | What happens in the body |
|---|---|---|
| On the day of treatment | The tiny injection points are barely visible after 15 to 30 minutes. | The active ingredient binds to nerve endings and is taken up into the cells. |
| From day 2 | First changes are possible: frowning takes a little more effort, the frown line softens. | Inside the nerve endings, a protein (SNAP‑25) is split. As a result, less messenger substance is released and the muscle is activated less strongly. |
| Days 2 to 7 | Movement usually decreases further. The frown line is often clearly relaxed after 7 days. | Fewer and fewer nerve signals reach the muscle. |
| Days 7 to 14 | The effect continues to develop. Different zones and both sides of the face can respond at different speeds. The forehead often needs up to 14 days. | Now hardly any signals reach the other treated muscles either. |
| From day 14 | The result can be assessed, for the jaw muscle and trapezius only after 2 to 6 weeks. | The body slowly begins to build new connections to the muscle. |
| Months 3 to 6 | Movement slowly returns. Expression lines can become more visible again. | New nerve branches and newly formed protein restore movement and facial expression step by step. |
Possible side effects: A mild feeling of pressure or a slight, temporary headache may occur in the first days. Persistent or increasing symptoms should be checked by a doctor.
