How long does a wrinkle treatment last?
By Dr. med. Sebastian Vogel, physician
In short: On the face usually three to six months. After that, movement slowly returns and the treatment can be repeated.
How long it lasts by area
| Area | Usual duration |
|---|---|
| Expression lines on the face (forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet and other zones) | usually 3 to 6 months |
| Jaw muscle and trapezius muscle | usually 4 to 6 months, often longer after repeated treatments |
| Excessive sweating | usually 6 to 9 months |
What does the duration depend on?
- On the zone: Strong muscles need a different dosage than fine ones.
- On the dosage: A lower dosage can mean a shorter duration.
- On your own body: Everyone breaks it down a little differently.
- On regularity: For the jaw muscle and trapezius muscle, the effect often lasts longer after several treatments.
Why does the effect wear off?
Over time, new nerve branches form. In addition, the protein that is needed is formed again, so the original nerve endings can pass on signals again too. As the effect wears off, movement slowly returns, usually after three to six months. Expression lines can then become more visible again.
When does a top-up make sense?
To prevent lines, repeating the treatment every 4 to 6 months, depending on the area, is usually advisable. We discuss the right interval for you at your appointment.
