Many people come to me because they show a lot of gum when they laugh, and so they hold back their smile in photos. With botulinum toxin I relax the muscles that pull the upper lip up strongly when you smile. The aim is a smile that shows less gum.

Where does a Gummy Smile come from?
When you smile, small muscles lift the upper lip. If they pull very strongly, a lot of gum shows. Teeth and jaw also play a part.
What happens at the appointment?
First I ask you to give me a big smile, and I look at how far your upper lip lifts. We talk about what you would like, and I explain everything to you in person. If everything is right for you, I treat you straight away in the same appointment, with a very fine needle. It only takes a few minutes.
When does it take effect, and how long does it last?
After a few days you notice that your upper lip lifts less strongly when you smile. After 14 days the effect is complete. The effect usually lasts three to six months.

Does the treatment work for every gummy smile?
Not for every one. It works when it is mainly the muscles that pull the lip up. We look at that together at the studio.
Will I still look natural?
Most people feel more comfortable smiling afterwards. We decide together how strongly to treat, because this can be adjusted through the dose.
Can I go straight back to work?
Yes, you can go straight back to work afterwards. The tiny needle marks are usually barely visible after just a few minutes. That is why an appointment before work or during your lunch break works well too.
What should I keep in mind after the treatment?
In the first 4 hours after treatment, please do not lie down. On the day of treatment, no make-up and no alcohol, and do not touch, rub or massage the injection sites.
